Mold testing is completed with different instruments and sampling methods. The primary objective is to determine if there is an elevation in fungal ecology and determine the source so corrective measures can be taken.
If any occupants are experiencing health concerns, especially ones that resolve after leaving a home or business. Mold testing can also provide a piece of mind if there are any sensitive or immunocompromised occupants. Testing should be completed if there has been water damage and always after a mold remediation.
An elevated fungal ecology is determined by the exterior conditions. This is due to the fact that mold is part of our every day lives and we breathe in mold every time we go outside. So while we look for specific (toxigenic molds) species, the primary deciding factor is measured against the exterior spore counts.
